Plastic Hot Plate Welding VS Infrared Welding
Author:
Hot plate welding and infrared welding belong to two different processes of plastic welding. In hot plate welding, the heating plate is in contact with the part; in infrared welding, the infrared heat source is not in contact with the part.
Both plastic welding technologies have recently gained tremendous development and are becoming more and more popular. Through the servo drive, the mold position, speed, force and acceleration are accurately controlled, and the process control and data acquisition functions are strengthened. In addition, the variety of equipment models provides engineers with more choices.
Infrared welding uses non-contact heating to solve a major challenge of hot plate welding, which is to avoid plastic or glass fiber sticking to the surface of the heating plate. Of course, the two welding processes have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Both processes are typically used for products that require high strength or high sealing properties, and are suitable for welding large, complex geometric parts, especially cavity products, such as water tanks.
